Jennifer Ito, ND

Dr. Ito earned her bachelor’s degree from Barnard College, Columbia University in 1993. She ran a successful massage therapy practice in Birmingham, Alabama for four years. Her clients’ frequent inquiries about natural and holistic approaches to their health concerns fueled her growing curiosity about alternative medicine. In researching how she could offer more to her clients, she read the Principles of Naturopathic Medicine. These principles were so aligned with her own growing beliefs that within a few months she was back in school. After two years of pre-med college courses and then four years of naturopathic medical school, she graduated from Bastyr University and returned to her childhood home of Raleigh, NC. Because North Carolina does not yet license naturopathic physicians, Dr. Ito holds a naturopathic physicians’ license from Vermont. She is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, the Endocrinology Association of Naturopathic Physicians, the Psychiatric Association of Naturopathic Physicians, and the North Carolina Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Your first appointment will involve comprehensive discussion of your chief complaint i.e. your primary health concern or goal that brought you to the clinic, and a review of any recent labs you may have. I will present my clinical interpretation including the connections between your symptoms, the underlying cause(s), any obstacle(s) to cure and how those relate to the rationale of your treament plan. Treatment plans vary widely person to person but generally include cultivating new mindsets and lifestyle habits, labs if indicated, and supportive supplements.

For more insight into the first appointment you can review the intake form: Contact and Health Questionnaire Form (203 KB PDF)

Directions to the Clinic

From the I-440 Beltline, take Exit 2A for Western Boulevard downtown.
Turn RIGHT at the first traffic light, onto Kent Rd.
Take the first RIGHT onto Garland, and continue until it becomes a dirt road, this is Onslow. You will pass a ‘closed to thru traffic’ sign. Entrance is last on the left before construction barricade.
Due to construction, do NOT TURN LEFT onto Lorimer.
I’m on the left: 1235 Onslow Road.
The clinic is the first floor of my home. Use the double doors that face Onslow.

Note: If you’re using MapQuest, Google Maps, or other online mapping services, you may get incorrect directions after the exit, due to sidewalk construction and since Lorimer does not actually connect to Western Boulevard.
